Michael Chapman is professor of English and Dean of Human Sciences at the University of Natal in Durban. He has just updated Southern African Literatures through the University of Natal Press. His previous books include Douglas Livingstone (1981) and South African English Poetry (1984). He is the editor of Soweto Poetry (1982), The Drum Decade (1989; 2001) and The New Century of South African Poetry (2002)
